Rockport Trip - Four Seasons Beach Girl (Day 2 - Feb. 7, 2011)

On the first day in Rockport, Mommy said that the town reminded her a little of Birch Bay. "Humbug," said Lyra, narrowing her eyes. "Can we go clamdigging here? Make a sandcastle? Go waterskiing? Eat fresh Dungeness crab for lunch? Grill chinook salmon caught by Grandpa Jerry?"

A long pause ensued.

"Look over there -- seagulls!" said Mommy. And all was well.

On the second day, Lyra, Daddy and Mommy went out early to explore the town. Walking along the main street, they saw many souvenir shops, art galleries, and seafood restaurants. All closed. Mommy didn't care about that -- she just wanted a place to drink a nice hot chocolate, just like in Birch Bay. What about Main Street Coffee? asked Lyra. Where there's coffee, there's usually chocolate!

Lyra does her Carnac impression.

"Don't bogart all the whipped cream, Mommy!"

Lyra likes the view from on high. Correction: Lyra loves the view from on high.

"Hey Daddy! Ask Uncle Greg if he's been to ... oh, never mind."

Lyra looks for worms.

Lyra answers the age-old question, "Where's your nose?"

Four whooping cranes, one of the rarest birds in the world. And already on Lyra's life list!

Lyra waves to her fans, from her fancy new Britax Marathon 70 carseat. Notice how her cuffs match the carseat strap. Lyra, are you wearing Garanimals?
