Bluebonnet Girl (April 3, 2011)

As the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas, the Texas state constitution requires that every child born in Texas be photographed in a field of bluebonnets before the age of five.

It's been a dry year, but through the magic of the Internet Daddy found a lovely field of bluebonnets in Waller.

Lyra is shocked to see so many wildflowers in one place.

"You're sitting on a nest of fire ants, Daddy. I'm outta here!"

"Okay, one picture first. For the fans."

WHAT?!?
Uncle Greg has never been photographed in a field of bluebonnets, but he still calls himself a Texan?
Is there no end to his perfidy?

In honor of her southern heritage, Lyra goes with the seersucker. Gutsy call, kid! You might just make it in this town.

"Top of the morning, guv!"

In which Lyra determines whether bluebonnets are good to eat. They are not.

"I can't hold this smile forever, Mom!"

Lyra makes a wish that she will come back next year.
