As an original beach girl, Lyra can will tell you there are many ways to enjoy Birch Bay.
When the sun is high and the tide is low, Lyra likes to walk out to the water's edge and survey her domain. Nana is following, because she knows Lyra is the straw that stirs the drink.
Did Lyra just get nibbled by a baby crab?
No! She found some mud for Mommy's nighttime facial. "It's extra exfoliating, Mommy!"
Another thing Lyra loves about Birch Bay is all the delicious animals that live in Puget Sound and end up on her dinner plate. "Food just tastes better when you catch it yourself, am I right?" asks Baby Lyra.
Mommy strikes a victory pose after digging her first horse clam (with help from Opa). That's a big clam!
Lyra, in pink muscle shirt and matching crocs, stops Team Clamdigger for a QC inspection.
"I pronounce these clams to be delicious," says everyone's favorite baby.
Later, Nana took those eleven clams and made them into chowder. Which Lyra then pronounced to be an acquired taste. Sigh.
Lyra also had her first taste of crab at Birch Bay. She wasn't sure what to think at first, but soon enough realized it was one of the greatest things ever to grace her dinner plate. Opa's crab salad? Nana's crab cake? Fresh-cooked crab still warm from the cooker? Why decide?

Lyra finds some seaweed for Mommy. Another Birch Bay delicacy in the making?
