Thankgiving 2010 (Part III - Farmers Market)

The Marin County Farmers Market occurs every Thursday and Saturday morning. As a dedicated supporter of local farmers, ranchers, and cheese purveyors (mmm...cheese), Lyra faithfully attended every farmers market during the two weeks she was in Marin. What could be more important than helping Nana buy fresh, delicious food for the whole family?

Lyra and her Nana take the measure of the market. Lyra is agog with excitement. Also, she sees that the farmer across the way has free samples of strawberries.

Lyra plays it cool in front of the other squashes so they don't get jealous. "Pssst! Nana! My rotund orange friend here speaks the truth. Pumpkin pie is delicious, and would be a delightful way to end Thanksgiving."

Lyra wonders if her Opa likes pomegranates. Probably not.

"What is this mystical vegetable? Red, white, and green? Lo, it carries the spirit of Christmas within it! Must...try."

After distracting Nana with the old "Look over there! Free cheese!" routine, Lyra gets up close and personal with the green part of the green onion.

In the mouth it goes. And goes again. And again until it is all gone. And, to answer your next question, yes: Lyra had onion breath for the rest of the day.
