Lyra shows Nana the correct method for putting stones in a bucket and then pouring out the bucket.
Lyra doesn't always wear hats, but when she does she prefers this floppy flower print with matching chinstrap. And who can blame her? She looks so darn cute.
Of course, sometimes Lyra likes wearing her Opa's hat, especially when setting out for adventure.
(Technically not a beach picture, but provided as an illustration of Lyra's general coolness and ability to make any hat look good. This is from Lyra's drive up to Birch Bay, when she led a procession across a converted railroad bridge in Winters, California. Explorer, thy name is Lyra.)
Lyra kicks back, as shutterbug Opa looks on intently, seeking le moment juste.
A four-generation family photo.
Ming Yang steps out of frame to snap a bonus pic, while babies are still being wrangled.
Oma and Daddy look on while Lyra pans for gold.
Lyra just heard that Daddy used to peg his pants and gives the camera her patented "Are you for real?" expression. In the background, Aunt Ronni supervises Uncle Greg and Sara's sandcastle building. Lyra would have served as Sara's sous-engineer, but when this picture was taken, Lyra was not tideflat-compliant. Stay tuned to see if that's still true by the end of the summer...
