Birch Bay 2011 - Tennant Lake Park

One fine day, Daddy suggested a trip to Tennant Lake Park. "What a good idea!" said Nana. "I haven't been there for years." Opa and Mommy evinced somewhat less interest, but Daddy cajoled them with much talk of boardwalks and Lyra's love of same. Off we went!

At the beautiful arbor-like entrance. If this isn't used for weddings, it should be.

If there's a boardwalk, Lyra will be leading the way.
"Keep up, everybody! Just follow me."

Opa offers a gentle reminder: "Be careful of the edges, Baby Lyra! It looks like a meadow, but it's actually a swamp. And if you fall in, it's not going to be fun. For anyone.

Lyra's laugh is contagious. Infectious, even.

After a summer at the beach, Lyra's skin is not nearly as porcelain-like as this picture would suggest. Much to Mommy's chagrin.

Lyra knows just how to loosen up a crowd. Can't wait for her first class picture.

Still smiling, but don't push it.

Lyra has discovered that if she gets two people to hold her hand, she can get them to...

...lift her arms and then...

...lift her up in the air. Whee!

Back at the entrance, Lyra ponders the imponderables.

"Was it Kierkegaard or Dick Van Dyke who said, 'If you label me, you negate me'?"
